Ablative lasers tend to require a longer recovery period and make for a slightly more complicated procedure. The type of laser that is right for the patient depends on their individual needs and skincare goals.

• Rosacea treatment

Rosacea is a skin condition that presents itself through redness and visible blood vessels in the face. One of the most common and effective forms of laser treatment is pulsed dye laser, or PDL. Patients who have brown spots or dark spots, sunspots due to sun exposure, or hyperpigmentation are flocking to this treatment. It uses broadband light to lessen the appearance of brown spots and dark spots. When the light comes into contact with the red blood cells and melanin in the skin, it slightly damages it and causes the melanin to break up. Because the blood cells are affected as well, the melanin is able to absorb the light more effectively. This sounds like an intense process, but most patients report that it feels similar to being snapped by a small rubber band. When performed correctly, this treatment is completely safe and does not require downtime other than the week it takes for mild side effects to dissipate.
